Happy Monday! If you live in the east coast you know today has been nice out and that only means we’re getting closer to Spring, yay! During Spring + Summer, I love to dye my hair lighter, it’s something about the warmer months + lighter hair, feel me? I know dying your hair isn’t the best thing to do as it can damage your hair but what if I told you Shea Moisture came out with an Ammonia- Free + Sulfate free color system? (what?) HELLOO, yeah I know, I was jumping for joy too! I was so excited when I heard about the Shea Moisture Hair Color System because I trust Shea Moisture products– I mean, that’s all I ever use in my hair– so I gave it a shot!
SheaMoisture’s Moisture-Rich, Ammonia-Free Hair Color System gently, yet effectively, colors your hair for a softer, silkier and healthier appearance. A permanent, no-drip formula delivers vibrant color, body and shine. Provides excellent gray coverage.
LIGHT BLONDE is a neutral tone that enhances natural color. For optimal results use on light blonde to medium brown hair.
• Made with natural and certified organic ingredients.
• Shea Butter deeply moisturizes while conditioning hair and scalp.
• Soy Protein rebuilds and strengthens hair.
• Flax Seed Oil enhances the shine of hair.
The packaging is everything! The boxes alone are so appealing and the way everything was packaged in a cute bag was even better! I bought two boxes (depends on your hair length) of the lightest blonde color they had since I wanted a really really light brown.
After applying the dye using the brush method, I left it in for 40 minutes. I then went to rinsing my hair until the water was clear. After rinsing, my hair felt so soft & definitely moisturized. I have dyed my hair numerous times and no dye has ever treated my hair with love and respect it deserves haha (thank you Shea Moisture, my hair loves you too!)
As far as the color results, it wasn’t as light as the box said it would turn out (even though my hair matched the “before” image) but overall, yes, it did lighten up to a lighter brown (I was going for a honey light light brown). After about two months (today) the color has started to fade. That’s pretty good knowing I wash my hair 3x a week and workout 4-5x a week sweating my hair out.
Overall, I was very happy with the end results. Despite not getting the exact color I was expecting, I loved this product because my hair was still lighter and it left my hair moisturized like the box said it would. 🙂
